The Glasses for All (GFA) program was started in 2011.  The program is funded from grants obtained through local agencies, such as: Austin Bailey Health & Wellness Foundation, The Aultman Foundation, and Stark Community Foundation.

The new program Glasses for All II, started in September 2014.  This expanded version of the original GFA, now gives the recipient of the "Voucher", coverage for the eye exam, as well as the cost of the frames and lenses.  (limits do apply).

This program is designed to help those in need of glasses, who have no insurance coverage for glasses and limited income.

As of January 2018, the Book Club is no longer meeting.  If you have an interest in a reading club, we may be able to start this group again, or get you in touch with other Book Clubs.

In March 2013, the Philomatheon Society of the Blind started the "LOVERS OF LEARNING" Book Club.  Since the word 'philomatheon' is Greek meaning lovers of learning, we only thought it appropriate for this to be the name our book club.

Our first book was: "Thunder Dog, the true story of a blind man, his guide dog and the triumph of trust at ground zero, by Michael Hingson.  Then at the end of March several of the book club members got to meet and hear Mr. Hingson speak at events held in Alliance.

If a vision problem is keeping you from enjoying reading, please contact us, we will assist you in finding other formats for reading a book, such as; large print, E-Books and Talking Books.   ALL WELCOME - COME JOIN IN ON THE FUN
